FAQ

  • Chef in the House curates chef-led culinary experiences for private and corporate events—whether that’s in your home, at the office, or in a venue of your choice. But we’re also a full-service hospitality partner, offering event consultancy & planning services. If it makes an event run smoother or feel more memorable, we can do it.

  • Once we know your event details - such as date, location, and guest count - we’ll pair you with the right chef, unless you already have someone in mind. From there, a custom menu is designed just for your group. On the day of, your chef arrives early to set up, cooks and demos (if applicable) throughout the event, and will leave the kitchen spotless. Want to get hands-on? Sure thing! Prefer to sip and watch? Also great. Looking simply for a top Toronto chef to be the star of the culinary show? We love those too! Ultimately we’re here to help you bring your vision to life, whatever that may look like.

  • Not at all. While “house” is in our name, we go wherever the kitchen is, or can build one out ourselves. That could be an office boardroom, a farm field, a private club, or a downtown rooftop. We've even cooked in showrooms and warehouses. If there’s a space, we can work with it—or help you find one.

  • Pretty much anything. From intimate dinners and milestone celebrations to brand activations, media launches, client appreciation events, and team-building sessions - we tailor everything to your occasion. And if you need help designing the event itself, we can do that too.

  • Pricing depends on a few things - your chef, number of courses, guest count, and any added services like rentals or wine pairings. As a ballpark for a social occasion which would typically consist of a 3-course dinner typically starts around $300 per person + HST for 6 people. Larger events or more elaborate menus will be quoted accordingly. Do you need us to take care of all the planning? We’ll quote on a project to project basis.

  • Absolutely. You’re welcome to BYOB, or we can pair your meal with wine, beer, or cocktails. Want to take it up a notch? Hire one of our sommeliers or mixologists for the full experience.

  • In addition to chef-led dining, we can also support you with:

    • Event design and planning

    • Onsite logistics and execution

    • Event staffing (servers, bartenders, kitchen help)

    • Decor, rentals, entertainment, and venue sourcing

    • Consultation for pulling together all the moving parts

    Let us know what you need—we’ll build a custom package.

  • Not much! Your chef will bring all the ingredients and any specialty gear they need. If you want to use your own place settings, go for it—or we can arrange rentals. Just let us know what you’d prefer.

  • Your chef typically arrives about 1 hour before guest arrival to get set up, and leaves after dessert has been served and the kitchen is clean. Exact timing will be confirmed closer to your event date.

  • Yes! We serve the GTA and beyond. Travel fees may apply depending on your location, but we’ll let you know upfront.

  • Of course. Our chefs are experienced in working around food sensitivities, allergies, and special dietary requirements. Just let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.

  • It’s easy - fill out the inquiry form on our site. We’ll check availability, gather a few details, and send over a custom quote. A 50% deposit secures your date, with the balance due the week of your event. Credit card payments are subject to a 3% processing fee.

  • We understand, life happens. If you must cancel and can’t reschedule, we retain the deposit, since your chef’s time was blocked off just for you. If you rebook, we’ll happily apply the deposit to your new date. We just ask for at least 5 business days’ notice whenever possible.
